I’m thinking that I’d like my posts to be a little more “ordered” and so I downloaded a “post planner” from contentsparks . I’ve simplified it to suit my current stage of online publishing but it really got me thinking about preparing consistent output so my regular readers aren’t thrown hither and thither every time I sit down to write.  So…

I’m nominating Mondays as “Affiliate Marketing Mondays” and so will be publishing information articles, tips and information about what I’m learning and promoting.

Today isn’t Monday so I’m going to just give you the “heads up” and an introduction.  Then you can come back next Monday and read on!

Years ago, there was an old adage that said, “The three most important elements for a successful business are location, location, location.”

Today, however, three of the most important elements of having a successful business are marketing, marketing, marketing.

Of course, having a unique and valuable product or service, a reputation based on integrity, and a good sense for building relationships are still foremost when it comes to running a successful business.

Moreover, once you have established a product or service that speaks for itself, and a reputation of integrity, it’s now time to step forward and market those goods or services. With more and more businesses moving online, the need for online marketing is ever-expanding. Online marketing stands to be one of the most lucrative ways for businesses to reach optimal success and increase their bottom line. affiliate marketing is one of those ways.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing is a style of marketing wherein a business compensates an affiliate every time a consumer is directed toward that business through the affiliate website and/or its own marketing plans. In other words, affiliate marketing is selling products on a commission basis.

An affiliate’s advantage is that he can make money in a business where he doesn’t have the upfront costs of creating his own product, and he doesn’t have to worry about e-commerce, bookkeeping, or even customer support -which  is the merchant’s responsibility.

Your website is the jumping off point of all your marketing efforts. So the first step in any successful affiliate marketing business is building a good, credible and professional looking website, which will attract your prospects and motivate them to click on the links to the products and services you are promoting and make a purchase.

Next, you need to market your site effectively, in other words, drive traffic to it.  This will get the visitors coming to your site which transforms into sales. The faster you set up a website, the sooner you concentrate on traffic – the bigger your chances of making money online faster. Please avoid the mistake some affiliates make of building a short-term business where they just make a small sale. Make sure you do understand that you are building a long-term affiliate business to make money over and over again –  not just something that makes you a few dollars on one sale.

Finally, affiliate marketers become much more successful when they treat their customers or online visitors as friends. Make a commitment to establish relationships with your customers and especially with visitors to your site.
